What is “it”? It is whatever you need or want “it” to be! “It” is the goods and services you need every day or for special days. “It” is the shops and stores and salons and restaurants and professional services that make Fairport such a special place. “It” is that great feeling you get when you support a Fairport business.
“It” is agents and ad men and bankers and brokers and cookies and candies and groceries and gifts an d burgers and bikes and diamonds and doctors and dentists and music and dance and strolling canalside - a night of romance.
Whatever “it” is to you, come find “it” for yourself. Visit a Fairport business today. Discover the shops, stores and services you may have overlooked before. You’ll be amazed by the variety, impressed by their knowledge, and warmed by their front-porch friendly customer service. Whatever “it” is, “it” is waiting for you to Find It In Fairport!
1. Better Customer Service. Local businesses often hire people with a better understanding of the products they are selling and take more time to get to know their customers.
2. Greater Competition, Product Diversity, Consumer Choices. A marketplace of hundreds of small businesses, serving local interests and needs, is the best way to ensure innovation, variety, and low prices over the long-term.
3. Buy Local, Support Yourself. Purchasing goods or services from locally owned businesses keeps more money in the community. Locally-owned businesses often purchase from other local businesses, service providers and farms. Buying local helps grow other businesses as well as our regional tax base.
4. Protect Our Distinctive Local Character. The unique character of Fairport is what attracts residents, merchants and shoppers. Supporting locally owned businesses helps maintain our distinct flavor.
5. Greater Community Support. Non Profits often receive greater support from local business owners, sometimes as much as 350% more money, than they do from non-locally owned businesses.
6. Greater Community Investment. Local businesses are typically owned by people who: live in Fairport; are less likely to leave; and are more invested in Fairport's future.
7. Create Good Jobs. Small local businesses are the largest employers nationally, providing competitive wages and benefits.
8. Lessens Public Burden. Businesses located in existing city and town centers require comparatively little infrastructure investment, add more to our tax base and make more efficient use of public services.
9. Reduced Environmental Impact. Local businesses make more local purchases requiring less transportation and usually set up shop in town centers rather than on the fringe. This can mean less sprawl, congestion, habitat loss, resource depletion and pollution.
10. It Feels Good. We all love Fairport and want it to continue to thrive. When local businesses succeed, we all share in that success. So, the next time you need quality goods or services, remember to shop Fairport first. Whatever you’re looking for chances are you’ll “Find it In Fairport!”
