Fairport
is located along the historic Erie Canal in suburban Rochester. The
Village of Fairport is situated within the Town of Perinton, and is
located in the southeast quadrant of Monroe County, New York. Fairport
is a favorite stop for boaters during the summer months as they
traverse the canal. Many fine local restaurants and a variety of
retail shops line the streets of the area.
The Fairport-Perinton Merchants Association Inc.
(FMA)
is a non-profit civic organization of retail merchants and other
business owners in the Village of Fairport and the Town of Perinton.
The organization was formed in 1989 for the purpose of
promoting local commerce in the area. There are many benefits of
membership, including collective and subsidized advertising programs,
participation in sponsored business seminars and the sharing of ideas
with other local business owners.
The Fairport-Perinton Merchants Association Inc.
sponsors several events throughout the year, including Fairport
Canal Days. Fairport Canal Days is a very popular arts and crafts
show held the first weekend in June. Over 200,000 people attend the
festival each year.
FMA also provides Christmas lighting for the Village,
hanging flower baskets lining Main Street in the summer and many other
improvements for the beautification of our community. Last, but not
least, FMA contributes significant dollars to numerous local
charitable organizations.
The Fairport-Perinton Merchants Association Inc. is a
proud member of the Greater Rochester Visitors Association and the
